RB 484 Z and RB 486 Y Reformulation

Hermes Abrasives, one of the world's leading producers of industrial abrasives, announces the reformulation of RB 484 Z and RB 486 Y. The two products take advantage of an improved mineral configuration, providing better stock removal rates and increased belt life.

Product features:

  • RB 484 Z (type 48433) - Zirconia alumina grain coated onto a heavy Z weight polyester backing. Applications include coarse and intermediate grinding of exotic alloys, steels and stainless steels, planing and dimensioning of wood panels and lumber. Typical work pieces include castings, forgings, sheetmetal, coil stock, plywood or MDF sheets, and lumber stock.

    RB 484 Z is available in grits #24 to #80.

  • RB 486 Y (type 48630) - Zirconia alumina grain coated onto a heavy Z weight polyester backing. RB 486 Y also features a heat ablator additive in the binding system to reduce operational temperatures, increasing the belt life. Applications include coarse and intermediate grinding of exotic alloys, steels and stainless steels found in castings, forgings and stampings.

    RB 486 Y is available in grits #24 to #80.

    RB 484 Z and RB 486 Y both use a straight cut butt joint (EB 32) and are available in narrow and wide belt forms.
