Hermes honing stones are quality tools for final machining of functional surfaces that require a defined surface structure (cross hatching). This characteristic is achieved by control of the cutting and feed movements, while process behavior is determined largely by tool properties.

The honing tools can be tailored to suit the intended operation, by systematic control of the properties of the component materials used, and by specification of the volume of each component.

For example, honing stones may be specified for rough cutting work or for generating high surface quality. The main parameters determining these characteristics are grit type, grit size, hardness and structure.
